I have tried both and they are really impressive mods.
Originally posted by Alwyn:Empire Total Factions (ETF) with the Additional Units Mod (AUM) would be a good option. Does the mod come with installation instructions? If so, have you checked that you have followed them exactly (I'm a fairly experienced user of mods and I sometimes make mistakes when installing them)? Did you download zipped files and, if so, have you unzipped them? There is a link in this post: to instructions on 'how to activate mods for Empire Total War' - see the link under the heading 'Other editing/modding' to 'how to activate mods'. You wrote that you have downloaded a mod and do not know how to activate it. You would have access to many of the units in the US roster such as Minutemen, Rangers and Long Rifle Men (sadly, you would not have access to the DLC units such as the USS Constitution). It is designed to allow players to play as the Thirteen Colonies, have a revolution and play as a republic (still called the Thirteen Colonies) under the flag of the United States.
This mod is far less advanced than ETF and AUM. You might also want to consider These United Colonies. Empire Total Factions (ETF) with the Additional Units Mod (AUM) would be a good option.
